Biography

Jacques Pissenem was born in 1972 in Plancher les Mines, a small village in the department of Haute-Saône within the magnificent forests of the Vosges.
He felt from an early age at one with Nature. Confronted with the beauty and strenght of the scenery, his past experiences led him to become the sculptor of trees that he is today.
This experiences including competitive mountain biking, practicing motocross and skiing taught him endurance and gave him a taste for effort in the forested landscapes of his childhood. He became a drummer in a rock band and used music to escape traditionnal convention.
Everything was in place for him to obtain material and inspiration for his current artistic models. Before reaching 30, he radically changed his life, leaving a promising but alienating position in the car industry to acquire training in the art of woodwork, while also developping a business breeding goats with his then current partner.
At this time he had a decisive encounter with Pio Pascolo, pionner in the art of sculpturing with a chain saw since 1958, who initiated him into the art of this uncommon practice.
The sead was sown, his determination, his work and his creativity allow him to be the only sculptor of trees to perform musical shows with a chain saw.
Quintessence of his Art and result of the technology he has developped in sculpting trees, his shows are awe inspiring gifts for his audience for whom he masters technical difficulties in a state of grace and sublime force.
This unique, strong and sensitive artist takes us in an oneiric realm, where physical achievment furthers creating, his creation....
